Every year, hundreds of local people take on a challenge to help patients and families affected by life limiting illnesses here in Kirklees. Whether it's pounding the pavements, pedalling long and winding roads, braving the cold on an open water swim or climbing a mountains, every single person who takes on a challenge makes a huge difference for local people in need here in Kirklees. Skydive

Manchester Half Marathon

Will you put your running shoes on to raise money for The Kirkwood and run the 2024 Manchester Half Marathon? Pound those pavements to help us care for people with life limiting illnesses.

Great North Run

The Kirkwood Memorial Bike Ride

Why not test yourself by taking part in The Kirkwood Memorial bike ride in memory of Katrina Cross this autumn? Organised by cycling enthusiast Richard Poole, set up an annual memorial mountain bike ride in memory of his partner Katrina who died in 2020 after being cared for at home and he wants you to get involved.

Peru Trek (including Machu Picchu)

Represent The Kirkwood in South America! We have a once in a lifetime challenge to take on in Peru. The feeling of walking through the Sun Gate to witness the UNESCO World Heritage site of Machu Picchu for the first time will live with you forever.

The lost city of Machu Picchu, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, sits on the bucket list of many and with good reason; it’s simply breathtaking.

Iceland Northern Lights Trek

We have an exciting opportunity for you to take on in Iceland under the amazing sight of the northern lights. Witness the most spectacular show on earth in the most beautiful place on earth. Surrounded by incredible nature, Iceland is a magical place to watch in awe as the green, red and purple aurora borealis dance across the night sky.
