Clinical Volunteer

Job Description:

Are you a people person looking for a new challenge or looking for an opportunity to develop skills and experience? Or are you an experienced clinician looking to give something back to the people of Kirklees living with life limiting illnesses?

We are currently recruiting clinical volunteers into a variety of exciting new posts to enable The Kirkwood to support more people in Kirklees living with life limiting illnesses.

 

At The Kirkwood, we are constantly developing services to meet the needs of the diverse populations and communities in Kirklees and we need support from clinical volunteers to do this in both patient facing and non patient facing roles.

As a clinical volunteer, you would have the opportunity to work across the broad range of clinical services we offer, making a difference to people in Kirklees living with life limiting illnesses.

Volunteering with The Kirkwood: As a volunteer, you will need to maintain complete confidentiality as a condition of your volunteering. 

Information relating to patients, visitors, team members and fellow volunteers can only be, disclosed with the express permission of the appropriate manager. 

All volunteers and staff have a responsibility to maintain a safe working environment following The Kirkwood Fire and Health & Safety policies. All volunteers are required to work within the policy guidelines of The Kirkwood. 

Volunteering for The Kirkwood is subject to satisfactory references such as; health declaration, role-specific assessment, and where appropriate a DBS Disclosure.  

Before or shortly after starting, all volunteers will be invited to attend an induction session. In the first few weeks, volunteers undertake role-specific shadowing and training, and complete the following training modules (assistance being provided if required): 

To keep up-to-date with requirements and legislation in these areas, it may be necessary to refresh this training from time to time.

A little bit of background about The Kirkwood:

The Kirkwood provides specialist care, free of charge, to adults in Kirklees with advanced, progressive illnesses at any time from diagnosis to the end of life, respecting their individual needs and wishes. 

Care and support are also provided for their family members, friends, and carers, both during the illness and after death. Through education, training, and partnership with others, we improve care for everyone affected by a life-limiting illness.
