Community spread Festive cheer at Kirkwood Hospice’s annual Christmas Fair
With Christmas just over a month away, visitors flocked to Kirkwood Hospice’s annual Christmas Fair last weekend
Held at the University of Huddersfield for the first time, the annual Fair attracted hundreds of visitors over two days, offering them the chance to start their Christmas shopping early and enjoy a range of festive entertainment.
Mayor of Kirklees, Christine Iredale, officially opened the two day event.
From craft stalls to homemade decorations, Christmas treats to festive tipples and tombolas to trinkets, there was something for everyone to enjoy at Kirkwood's biggest festive fundraiser.

Entertainment included yuletide music from local school choirs and brass bands, face painting and even festive farmyard animals, all suitably dressed for the occasion.
Completing the Christmas theme, Santa Claus made a special appearance, entertaining eager children with a story or two.
Edith Davidson, Secretary of Kirkwood's Batley & Birstall Support Group, has been supporting the Hospice at its Christmas Fair for over 10 years.

Helping at the event with Granddaughter, Ellie, Edith said: “It's vital for us, as a Support Group, to remember the work that the Hospice does.
"We appreciate how important it is that we keep raising funds for the Hospice, and having a presence at its events, such as the Christmas Fair.
"With the money raised today providing a wide range of services for patients, relatives, families and bereaved individuals at the Hospice, we couldn't think of a better cause."
Kirkwood Hospice Events Organiser, Kathryn Box, was delighted with how popular the event has been in its new home.
“Once again, our annual Christmas Fair has proved to be a great weekend for the local community to enjoy festive activities and get their Christmas shopping done, all while supporting Kirkwood.
“Over the years, the Christmas Fair has become a stand out event in the local Christmas calendar. We would like to thank our community of supporters, stall holders and our devoted volunteers for their continued support, which has helped to make the fair such a success.”
Kirkwood Hospice would like to thank event sponsor, Longley Farm, for their invaluable support. Kirkwood is also indebted to The University of Huddersfield, Christine Iredale, Mayor of Kirklees, Ian's Festive Farm, Real Donkeys, Kirkheaton Primary School Choir, Whitechapel Church of England Primary School Choir, Huddersfield Grammar School Choir, Woodsome Beck and Woodsome Singers, Huddersfield Rock Choir and Cocklebread.
Special thanks go to the volunteers, Support Groups and staff.
