Want to learn new skills, have fun and meet new people? Come and join The Kirkwood's Retail team at our Bradford Road Shop & Donation Centre and help us raise the funds to care for local people affected by life limiting illnesses in your community.

The Kirkwood rely on a team of amazing helpers who work with our teams to raise funds, care for patients and families and to bring amazing experiences to life at our fundraising events. By giving a little of your time each week, you will ensure we can make the very most of our donations. And by choosing to help our Retail team at our Bradford Road Shop & Donation Centre, you’ll become an integral part of our movement, offering a friendly face and delivering a great experience for our customers and donors. 
 

No matter how much time you have to spare, you could make a massive difference. If you have a few free hours each week and think you'd like to help, we’d love to hear from you!


You’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills and put your existing talents or interests to use in a fun and fast-paced retail environment.

Even better, you’ll be doing something amazing for local people affected by life limiting illnesses here in Kirklees. You’ll be helping to improve their quality of life and supporting them make the very most of the time they have left – for as long as they can. And you’ll be helping their families and loved ones too.

What kind of skills do I need?

As a Retail Assistant volunteer you don’t need any specific experience to apply for a role with us – we’re simply looking for enthusiastic people who are passionate about making a positive difference. If you have any of the following attributes, they’ll come in really handy:

  • Happy to work as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn new skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

There’s no need to worry if you don’t. We’ll offer training and support to help you build your confidence, learn new skills and develop ones you might not have known you had!

What kind of things will I be doing?

Our Bradford Road Shop & Donation Centre is a vibrant and fun place to help out, with loads of opportunities to get involved in. It’s an exciting time to join our team and every day is different, but here are a few examples of what you might be doing:

  • Creating attractive displays across our shop
  • Receiving donations from the general public and thanking our donors
  • Sorting and pricing items to help us make the most of our donations
  • Merchandising and making sure the shop floor is well stocked
  • Delivering excellent customer service for our supporters
  • ​Using any specialist knowledge or interests you may have to discover hidden gems
  • Promoting our Gift Aid scheme and helping to raise awareness about our charity
