This year, we've given our flagship fundraiser a new name, and it's more magical than ever. Enjoy all the best elements of The Kirkwood Memory Walk, now with a touch of starlight. Walk under the night sky, remembering loved ones, and creating new memories with friends and family.

Bring your friends and family together to walk under twinkling skies at The Kirkwood Starlight Walk this summer! On the 5th of July, you'll create amazing memories with friends and family as you embark from the John Smith's Stadium, walking either 3, 6 or 10 miles to raise money for patients and families right here in Kirklees. 
 

We know things are challenging for many people right now, and we want to make sure our walk is affordable for the whole family. That’s why we’ve put together an incredible Early Bird Offer!

You can even bring your canine companions along for free (don’t forget to let us know they’re coming though). We’re keeping our ticket price low and we hope it will help to make The Kirkwood Starlight Walk bigger and better than ever.

When you register, you’ll receive your free Starlight Walk T-shirt and a fabulous fundraising pack featuring lots of tips and tricks to help you smash your fundraising target. Whatever your reason for taking part, you’ll be joining hundreds of others for a starlight walk like no other. And you’ll be doing something amazing in aid of a local charity which helps thousands of people every single year.




For over 15 years, walkers have laced up their boots and turned the sleepy streets of Huddersfield into a sea of colour as they walked through the night to raise funds for The Kirkwood. In 2025, we’re raising the stakes to bring you an event that is bigger, brighter and more magical than ever before... but don’t worry we promise there won’t be as many hills this time! Setting off from the John Smith's Stadium at 10pm, with registrations and entertainment from 8pm.

The Kirkwood Starlight Walk will become a beacon of hope, drawing people together to celebrate the enduring power of love as we light up the night in honour of the amazing people who made our lives that little bit brighter. The walk offer the same amazing experience you’ve come to know and love whilst raising vital funds for patients and families in our care. But this year, we’ll celebrate hope, guidance and the enduring power of love.  

As the stars shine bright overhead, we’ll walk through the night in their honour. 




Once you’ve signed up, don’t forget to set up your JustGiving page so you can start raising sponsorship straight away. You can also download a sponsor form to print out at home. Every pound you raise will help families in your local community to access the care they need, when and where they need it, every step of the way. 




All those who have been part of our walks in previous years know what an emotional, enjoyable and uplifting experience it is when we all come together to remember those we love and walk in their memory. We’ve been racking our brains to find new ways to make The Kirkwood Memory Walk feel more exciting and appeal to new audiences that might not think a ‘memory walk’ is for them. Our brand-new name modernises our biggest fundraising event of the year and helps us to further expand its success. The Kirkwood Starlight Walk is unique and memorable. It will help us to stand out from the crowd, particularly with so many other charities, both nationally and regionally, now organising memory walk style events.  

The word ‘Starlight’ conjures up so many different meanings. From hope and love to the anticipation of a brighter future. And as we walk through the late-night streets, the stars will shine down on us, lighting the way and guiding us on our journey. 

The theme of starlight offers us some exciting opportunities to bring our walk to life in 2025. Whether it’s the introduction of brand-new entertainment, light shows and decorations, or the opportunity to remember our loved ones in unique new ways – we believe The Kirkwood Starlight Walk 2025 will be even more memorable than ever.




The Kirkwood Support Life for anyone living with a life limiting illness, helping to improve their quality of life in the ways that matter most. When time is short, we help everyone in our care to live well and make the most of every single day. And we support families and loved ones to live on – and live well. 

We can only provide our care thanks to the amazing generosity of local people like you.  

Your support makes it possible for our team to answer calls for help, 24 hours a day. It helps The Kirkwood Nurses to deliver vital specialist support and advice for people in their own homes. And it makes sure patients in our hospice receive the very best care – so they can focus on making special memories with those they love.
