The Great North Swim

Brave the chilly Windermere waters whilst raising money for The Kirkwood. Dive into nature and join us for the 2024 Great North Swim this summer.

The Arla Great North Swim, at Windermere, has something for everyone, for all ages and all abilities, whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or a beginner. Choose your distance from Swim250, Half Mile, 1 Mile, 2 Miles, 5k and 10k, or take on a SwimRun, and join thousands of like-minded people and set yourself an open water challenge in the great outdoors at the UK’s biggest open water swim event.

The Kirkwood was founded by a group of local people who believed that everyone deserved the very best care and support as they approached the end of their life, creating a hospice for Kirklees. The Kirkwood movement is made up of amazing local people, united behind one common purpose – to ensure the people of Kirklees have access to the very best end of life care. To help us deliver this, we rely on the support of local people who believe in the difference The Kirkwood makes for anyone affected by life-limiting illnesses.
