Overseas challenge - Iceland Trek
We have an exciting opportunity for you to take on in Iceland under the amazing sight of the northern lights. Witness the most spectacular show on earth in the most beautiful place on earth whilst trekking for The Kirkwood.
Supporters of The Kirkwood will explore the magical landscapes of Iceland by spending six days in total across the country, the trek will take you across the field of geothermal with bubbling mud pools to Ölkelduháls, then a hike down to the magical valley of Solfataras and hot springs called Reykjadalur where those brave enough can dip into a natural hot river. Your journey will take you up mountains as you hike up to Vörðuskeggi Peak (805m). From the top you will enjoy views of Lake Þingvellir and Langjökull to the north and Eyjafjallajökull and the distant Westman Islands. This is an enduring challenge but also a fun one with plenty of activities to excite you too on this wonderful trip.
The registration fee is £350 per person, with an aspirational fundraising target of £3,600 but don’t let that target put you off.
This is a challenge like no other, involving a lot of training and preparation. If you select this trip, we would suggest setting up a Facebook event page or group where you can invite the public to follow your training journey, sharing updates and milestones reached in your fundraising target, we would also highly recommend linking this to your Just Giving page, sending the link to your contacts and asking them to share this with their peers.

The Kirkwood was founded by a group of local people who believed that everyone deserved the very best care and support as they approached the end of their life, creating a hospice for Kirklees. The Kirkwood movement is mad. e up of amazing local people, united behind one common purpose – to ensure the people of Kirklees have access to the very best end of life care. To help us deliver this, we rely on the support of local people who believe in the difference The Kirkwood makes for anyone affected by life-limiting illnesses.
