The afternoon will focus specifically on skills and identifying the tools you require to work with a degree of confidence with children and young people.
Resilience and Complicated Grief
Thursday 8th July 2021, 9.30am - 4pm
This session is for staff and volunteers.
It is well known that repeated contact with patients who are dying or supporting bereaved relatives can and does affect professionals.
The concept of ‘resilience’ is an important aspect for workers to consider when assisting individuals who have experienced emotional and psychological distress. This study day examines this concept through the use of theory, group work and case discussion.
The session also focusses on the theoretical and diagnostic aspects of complicated and prolonged grief. It is experiential in nature with opportunities for case discussion and skills work.
Personal and Professional Development – Looking After Self
Thursday 21st October 2021, 9am – 4pm
Looking after ourselves in the pressured work we do is important to ensure we do not ‘burn-out’. Using a mixture of self-reflective exercises; scenarios, small discussion groups and importantly humour, we aim to create a safe space to enable reflection to help participants look at creative ways to help them develop safe, reflective practice in their work and coping strategies in their personal lives.
