Drivers

Without our Volunteer Drivers and Driver's Mates, many of The Kirkwood's services would simply grind to a halt. Day patient transfers, shop supplies, transfer of medical records, banking and getting the mail on time; all rely on the right transport being available at the right time.

Please take a look at some of the volunteering positions on offer below:

Volunteer Driver Fallback

There are three options for volunteer drivers - transporting Day-patients between their home and the Support & Therapy Centre; driving The Kirkwood Support Vehicle: or supporting the shops by driving one of our retail vans. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles in the morning and afternoon to transport day-patients who would otherwise find it difficult to access the Support & Therapy Centre. The Kirkwood vehicles are provided for all other driving roles. All drivers must have a clean driving licence and, if using their own vehicle, valid motor insurance. Where appropriate travelling expenses are reimbursed, if requested.

Volunteer Drivers Mate Fallback

Looking for a volunteering opportunity that gets you out and about in the sunshine? By volunteering for The Kirkwood as a Driver's Mate, you'll have the opportunity to meet lots of new people, get out on the open road and support the work of our retail team, who help to raise over £2 million for patient care each year.
